evidence and research suggest that teachers' integration of digital

to their limited use of it in school." |

a variety of authentic audiences, ranging from students themselves
to anyone in the world with Internet access. Knowing that real people

the impetus to motivate students to write with much more enthusiasm
than they would when composing traditional research essays" |

| Accuracy of Wikipedia..
“The answer is that thankfully,
there are vastly more editors that want to make it right than
those who want to make it wrong. So when mistakes occur or vandals
strike, the collaborative efforts of the group set it straight,
usually very quickly. University of Buffalo professor Alex Halavais
tested this by creating 13 errors on various posts on Wikipedia,
all of which were fixed within a couple of hours (Halavais 2004)
And in December 2005, the magazine Nature compared 43 entries
in Wikipedia to the same entries in Encyclopedia Britannica and
found Wikipedia to be only slightly less accurate. "(Giles

"Using Audacity, a free audio-editing
program that works with Macs or PCs, I recorded myself discussing
major concepts that students needed to know for an upcoming unit
test. These test reviews, which I call StudyCasts, are 15-20 minutes
long...StudyCast started as a novelty but has now grown into an
important part of the review practice for many of my students....In
an end-of-the-year survey, 85 percent of my students expressed the
hope that other teachers will start recording their own StudyCasts.
